Randy Adelson began his career in the special event industry holding lights for a wedding photographer as a 15 year old. At eighteen, (because he really wanted a car) he got a job at one of Long Island's top floral decorating companies. Here, he learned basic decor skills and got introduced to balloon art. In 1987, Randy formed his own balloon decorating company. In 1991, Randy met Joel and Ruth, the owners of the original J&R who owned and operated the company until a fire claimed it in 2004. Randy became part of the company shortly thereafter; maintaining his decorating company but becoming totally immersed in the "backroom" of the balloon industry. He became an NABA Certified Master Balloon Artist in 1993, joined the QBN in 1999, and became a CBA in 2004. Randy is also past vice-president of the NYC QBN, and hosted many QBN meetings at J&R.

Randy and his wife Robin, a New York City school teacher, officially opened the doors to J&R on February 1st, 2005. The 4,000 square foot warehouse is filled with balloons from Qualatex, Unique, Aurora, Betallic, Anagram, M&D, Conver USA, Classic, and others. Plus, there are ribbons, bows, regulators, weights, foil, confetti cannons... all the goodies that a balloon junkie could want or need, with more arriving daily!!
